Tethered to the barrel

Tethered to the barrel,
Marauding at the trigger.

All but your insides
Painted on the pavement.

Stiffed at the collar,
Ringing at your slogan,

Toothless to the beat.
Brood breaking dawn,
Marionette, you muscle for charity.

Strip you off your colors,
Gift you thorough winters,
Coax you as I did Septimus,
As his mind barked through
Decrepit hollows.

Raging through the mire,
Your blank canvas faced down
To dye at your wish.

But, “Tomorrow, tomorrow,

Never Today.”
